Lesson 5: Draw a Building on a PDF Plan

In this lesson you’ll learn how to import a PDF drawing and trace the building directly on top of it. Perfect when you have architectural drawings or other documents as your starting point. You’ll practice uploading, scaling, and drawing the building in correct proportions.

Step by step

  1. Upload drawing

    2. Import your PDF drawing into the project.

  2. Scale the drawing

    3. Check the scale on the drawing (e.g. 1:100) and enter it in Scaffcalc.

  3. Adjust scale factor

    4. The scale factor controls resolution. Example: 2x means higher resolution but also higher memory usage.

  4. Draw the building

    5. Use the rectangle tool for simple structures or the polygon tool for more complex shapes. Follow the drawing and trace the building as accurately as possible.
