Many of you are already loyal Scaffcalc users and used to the previous version. We have now rebuilt Scaffcalc, and it might feel confusing when you try it for the first time. Therefore, we have gathered the biggest changes here so you can get back to work quickly.
Why a New Scaffcalc?
Imagine starting a scaffolding business in your backyard and quickly realizing you don’t have enough space for all the materials needed for the jobs you'll be doing.
You move to a slightly larger space, and things run smoothly for a while. But as the work picks up, you need even more materials, and soon, you've outgrown this space too. Now, you require industrial facilities with a large area for your material yard. You've also hired staff, so a proper office for your employees is essential.
The next time you move, you’ll choose a location that accommodates both an office and plenty of space for the entire material yard—more than you need right now, but with room to grow.
Now, picture Scaffcalc. It started out as a simple tool with limited customization. After countless requests and new feature additions, we’ve outgrown the current platform. That’s why we needed to build a new one—one that offers more space and greater flexibility for the features and tools our users need.
The main differences
Build Scaffolding Exactly the Way You Want
In the new version of Scaffcalc, you have complete flexibility in building scaffolding. For example, you can place a loading bay exactly where you need it, put a staircase on the short side, and make the scaffolding follow sloping ground or balconies. There are many more options available, such as adding extra anchors, placing diagonals wherever necessary, and removing individual components you don’t want.
Bookmark Your Suppliers and Available Materials
To ensure you have the right materials for your projects, you can now mark your suppliers and materials as favorites. This eliminates the need to set them up each time you build scaffolding. Scaffcalc will suggest your pre-selected materials, ensuring your material list is accurate.
Sloping Ground
Often, buildings are not located on flat ground. That’s why we’ve introduced the sloping ground feature. With this option, the scaffolding adjusts to the slope, providing a more realistic representation of the project. Learn more about the sloping ground feature here.
Extended Branding
You can now customize the color and add text to the toe board in Scaffcalc. This ensures that your drawings are clearly branded and look even more professional when shared with clients or stakeholders. Learn more about branding here.
New Menu
We’ve said goodbye to the step-by-step menu. Now, all the tools you need are conveniently located at the top center of the interface. You can build a house, scaffolding, and even add or remove a roof without having to follow a strict step-by-step process.
Build Scaffolding in Any Direction
It’s now possible to place bays in any direction you want. Previously, you could only build clockwise, but now you have full flexibility to design your scaffold in whatever orientation suits your project.
Complete Material List
You can now remove materials you don’t need and select the exact lengths, widths, and items you’ll use, making your material list more accurate. Each material is correctly designated according to the supplier, and you can choose to show or hide components in the list, allowing you to extract specific categories of material. More information about the material list is available here.
Map Functionality
We’ve updated the map feature. You can now select multiple buildings simultaneously, allowing you to import an entire block if needed. Measurements between buildings are included, giving you a better understanding of the available space. More information about the map feature is available here. If the buildings have varying heights, this information is also included.
Corners
Previously, corners were restricted to 90 degrees, making it difficult to create corners where bays shared standards. We’ve developed a completely new way of building corners, giving you more flexibility and making it easier to get them right. Learn more about building corners here.
Passage Scaffolding (Stockholmsställning)
Many of you have requested the passage bay, and now it’s finally here. You can build it just like any regular bay. Find more information about this feature here.
Hide Components
You can now hide components in the component list, allowing you to sort out the parts you don’t want to include in your material list.
